In the classic Corvette world, there are few Regular Production Options (RPOs) that will take your breath away faster than "L-88" on the fenders. The L88 RPO was available from 1967 - 1969, and indicates that the Corvette in question has a 427 cubic inch engine that makes an astonishing 560 horsepower in 1967 and 1968. For 1969, Chevrolet dropped the claimed horsepower to 430, but the lore in the Corvette world is that the engines still made about 560 horses.
A total of just 216 of these fire-breathing 'Vettes were ever built, and 116 of these were built in 1969. Both of the cars shown in this gallery are certified by Bloomington Gold and the red one is also NCRS Top Flight certified.
Both of these cars are offered for sale at the RM Auctions event in San Diego, California on June 19, 2010.
