1981 - First Bowling Green Corvette

First Bowling Green Corvette

This is the first Corvette produced at the Bowling Green, Kentucky factory. It has just 4 miles on the odometer, and is a perfect time capsule of the model. It was sold by Barrett-Jackson auctions in September, 2010 for $150,000.

350 cubic inch V8 at 190 horsepower, 3-speed Turbo-Hydramatic Automatic Transmission

Model Notes:

The first Corvette produced at Bowling Green was this 1981 model, on June 3, 1981.

The Bowling Green facility was previously a Chrysler air conditioning factory.

Kentucky Governor John Y. Brown drove this car off the end of the assembly line to commemorate the opening of the factory.

Earl Harper, plant manager for the new Bowling Green facility, handed the keys to local Chevrolet dealer Jimmy Greenway, who had sold Chevrolets in Bowling Green for a quarter of a century.

The car has been stored since purchase exactly as it left the factory.
