One of the most brilliant strokes of marketing genius in the history of Corvette was the decision to put United States astronauts into Corvettes - that credit goes to Jim Rathmann, the 1960 Indy 500 winner and GM dealer in Florida who convinced GM President Ed Cole to supply each astronaut with two new cars every year. All the astronauts except John Glenn chose Corvettes.
This video shows scenes and commentary from a recent gathering of astronauts' Corvettes held in Cocoa Beach, Florida. It's a great look back at a tradition that Alan Shepard started with his '57.
