There's a common thread of philanthrophy among car clubs, and Corvette clubs are often among the leaders in giving to their local communities. That's what happened with the Corvettes of Southeast Idaho in December. This local Corvette club out of Idaho Falls gave $4,000 to local charities in December. Four deserving organizations including CASA, The Haven, The Soup Kitchen, and Grandparents Raising Grandchildren received checks for $1,000 apiece. A grand goes a long way to helping out a small local effort, and the Corvettes of Southeast Idaho deserve a huge pat on the back for their generosity.
There's a reason that car clubs are so often generous, whether it's my own Cascade Sports Car Club working on behalf of homeless kids in my area, or this club in Idaho, or your club wherever you are - it's because we know we're very fortunate to be able to play with fun cars as a hobby, and we want to share that good fortune with others in our community. So, take a look at your region and I'm sure you can find a good Corvette club in your community, or if you already have one, find out what you're doing to help others. If your club doesn't have a charity benefit program, well you just found out your job for 2011.
Happy New Year! - Y'all play safe out there, especially tonight.
