According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, 2007 to 2009 Corvette convertibles have the lowest insurance loss rates of any car on the road. Corvette coupes are third on the list, with the Mazda MX-5 Miata coming in second.
So what does this mean? Well, it means that people who own Corvettes take care of them, and in spite of the clowns who make the news by hooning around in their 'Vettes, on the average, we're a pretty good insurance risk. Maybe that has to do with the higher than usual average age of Corvette buyers, or the fact that we've invested a pretty good chunk of change in our cars, but I'd like to think it has more to do with respect for the cars and for our fellow drivers.
But before we get too smug, the Corvette Z06 had the second-worst collision loss rating among sports cars - just one point better than the Ferrari F430!
So whatever kind of Corvette you drive, if you're a safe driver give yourself a pat on the back, and ask your agent for a discount next time you renew your policy!
