Mecum Auctions will sell one of the 199 1963 Corvette Z06 coupes at auction in Monterey, California on Friday, August 13, 2010. The sale is scheduled for 2:20 PM.
This particular Z06 has a 99% Top Flight rating from NCRS - the National Corvette Restorer's Society. All the restoration documentation and a good bit of provenance for the car's history is included - which is the way you want to have it to get top dollar at a swanky car auction! I've uploaded a complete image gallery of this car, courtesy of Mecum Auctions.
The 1963 Z06 is a very important car in Corvette history. It was the first year for the new C2 body style, and the first ever year for Corvettes in a coupe body style. The 1963 coupes are the only year to feature a split rear window design. The Z06 option code included a 360 horsepower 327 cubic inch fuel-injected V8 engine, 4-speed M20 manual transmission, heavy duty brakes, and heavy duty suspension. Additionally, this car has factory power brakes, power windows, and an AM/FM radio - luxury! The car has just 94,029 miles on the clock
This car will be one auction sale to watch closely in Monterey as a bellwether for the state of the market for rare and desirable Corvettes. Everything's done right on this car, so it should bring top dollar.
