According to MSNBC, the new General Motors corporation may file papers as early as mid-August to schedule an initial public offering of its stock. The actual stock offering would be sold later in the year but prior to the November elections, according to MSNBC. One question on institutional investors' minds is whether GM will start a new in-house financing operation to replace the old GMAC, which was sold in 2006. There will be plenty of news coverage of this filing when it happens, and hopefully more answers forthcoming.
