Pratt & Miller's Corvette Racing is the leading Corvette racing team in the world. Based in Detroit, the team campaigns the C6.R Corvettes in the American Le Mans Series, and of course, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans itself.
Since 1960, the Corvette has been a competitive ride at Le Mans, and in the American Le Mans Series since its inception in 1999. But more than just building a custom high-performance car that looks like a Corvette, the technology transfer between GM and Pratt & Miller has been a two-way street. As with Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Mazda, and other great racing marques, what is learned on track by Corvette Racing soon makes its way into the Corvettes you find on a dealer showroom floor.
Pratt & Miller's Corvette Racing has spent the first half of this year developing a series of short videos that tell the story of how the technology transfer process works, and talking up the glory of the Corvette in racing. These clips are full of great racing and workshop scenes, and feature interviews with the actual drivers, engineers, and mechanics who are working to go fast and improve your next 'Vette.
Like Star Wars, there are 6 episodes so far, but unlike that franchise, there will be a total of 12 episodes in this series. In Episode 1, Corvette Racing shares a behind-the-scenes look at the team's preparations for the 12 Hours of Sebring, the start of the 2010 ALMS season. Episode 2, The Perfect Storm covers the Sebring race.
In Episode 3, the team takes a look at the technology transfer between the racing program and the 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon edition. Episode 4 covers the Corvette Green Racing Challenge - explaining how the Corvette Racing program actually helps green up the 'Vette.
These videos should keep you occupied for the next hour or so - I'll post the next ones as Corvette Racing releases them. Enjoy!
